Handcrafted quality

Trollbeads jewellery is made from 18-carat gold, sterling silver, Italian glass, freshwater pearls and precious stones, and is created from a blend of traditional and modern techniques.

The gold and silver Trollbeads are modelled using the so called ‘cire perdu’ or ‘lost wax’ method. This 3,000 year old technique allows for fine details to be reproduced from wax to precious metals. Each glass bead is handmade from red-hot glass in the open flame and no two Trollbeads are ever completely alike.

Danish Design

Trollbeads is a part of Danish Design legacy, which is known for its simplicity, functionality and quality.

Design is what drives Trollbeads and it is the designers who create the collection; they use the highest quality material and craftsmanship. To this date, more than 50 designers have contributed to the Trollbeads collection.

Trollbeads have won international artistic recognition and have been exhibited at Sculpture Objects & Functional Art in Chicago and New York.

Meet our designers

Since 1976

The story about Trollbeads started in 1976 in Denmark. The first bead was a small bead decorated with no less than 6 faces. It was designed by Søren "Silversmith" Nielsen and sold from his father Svend’s jewellery shop in central Copenhagen. 

Later, glass, gold, gemstones and pearl beads were introduced and new locks were designed making it possible to add or remove beads and experiment with different combinations.

Trollbeads has some of the most creative and loyal friends in the world, and we love to play with them. Together we make global events happen every year.

One of the most popular event to this date has been the "People’s Bead" event. Trollbeads receives suggestions for new designs every day, and some of these ideas are very beautiful and innovative. Therefore, an event has been created which gives Trollbeads friends the opportunity to become real Trollbeads designers.
